Do you have an understanding of current import and export compliance and shipping documentation? If yes, then we have the perfect role for you!


As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with import and export regulations, managing shipping documentation and logistics regulations, providing exceptional customer service, and using your IT skills to manage multiple priorities. You'll need to have a proactive approach, take the initiative, work independently, as well as part of a team, and have a positive team ethos.


We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience in the logistics and export industry to join our team. Knowledge or experience in the turf and amenity sector is a plus! You should be highly organised and be able to manage multiple and changing priorities while working calmly under pressure with a high degree of resilience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as a crucial link between Customers, Customs & Operations departments, ensuring timely receipt of all required documents according to country-specific regulations

  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive documentation, including HS commodity codes

  • Foster effective communication channels with suppliers, forwarders and agents to obtain real-time shipment information and proactively address any potential issues

  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and requirements, specifically pertaining to imports and exports

  • Take ownership of general enquiries relating to UK and overseas shipments, providing prompt and helpful resolutions

  • Proactive management of documents until final documentation sign off

  • Collaborate with transport companies to provide them with the relevant information for obtaining competitive quotations for overseas, UK and spot quotes

  • Effectively managing and resolving transport claims for both overseas and UK to ensure seamless logistics operations

  • Ongoing negotiation for acceptable rates with transportation companies, freight forwarders & UK based courier companies

  • Processing and reviewing shipping invoices to ensure accuracy and adherence to established guidelines

  • Coordinate and compile data for 3rd party audits

  • Embrace a flexible approach with additional duties required by management to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the department


Knowledge and experience:

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and escalate issues appropriately

  • Be proactive and take initiative in a logical, highly-driven manner

  • Be ambitious, motivated and determined

  • Be an outstanding communicator and have problem-solving skills

  • Willingness and ability to liaise with internal and external departments and teams

  • Can work to tight deadlines and manage multiple and changing priorities


Essential Skills:

  • Experience of working in a busy office environment

  • At least 2 years experience with current import and export compliance post-Brexit

  • Experience with handling shipping documentation and logistics regulations

  • Proven record of delivering excellent customer service

  • Experience of working in a logistics and export environment

  • Desirable Skills

  • Ability to speak a foreign language

  • GCSE Grade C above in Maths and English or equivalent

  • Knowledge/experience of working in the turf and amenity sector

  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and other company IT systems

  • Have strong organisational skills, be meticulous, and have excellent attention to detail
